1. Important Hints first:

2. Short Instructions:

Most people are bored by first reading a manual before dealing with a new software. So I decided to write down only a short one, which shows you the first steps of making a new chart. You’ll find out the rest intuitively, I’m sure! What to do for creating a new chart:

  • Tap on this icon in the upper menu bar:
    setup
  • Tap on „New chart“:
    eng1
  • Fill in a name for your new chart and configure the amount of rows/rounds and stitches. Save!
    eng2
  • Tap on each box of the chart to fill in symbols:
    eng3
  • Chose a symbol in the symbol bar. This bar can be slid to the left and to the right.
    eng4
  • In this box you can see the abbreviation for the stitch you’ve chosen. While tapping on this box a detailed explanation appears.
    eng5
  • Change to coloring mode with tapping on the color palette:
    eng6
  • Tap on the yellow box for chosing another color (if you want to knit with different colors, f.e.). Tap on „Done“ afterwards.
    eng7
  • Tap any box you want to have your chosen color.
    eng8

Finished!

3.  How to continue:

You can share your chart in different ways. Share it on facebook, send it in an email or save it in your dropbox account or foto roll. The app will share not only the chart but also a legend with all of the symbols you have used. Here’s an example:

IMG_0438IMG_0437

Tap on this icon:
eng9

Choose, how you want to share your chart, in my example I send it in an email. Tap on „Email“ choose the right one in the list and then tap on the envelop on the top right:
eng10

An email will open in wich you can see the picture of your chart and its legend. Fill in the addressee, write a text (optional) and then send it.
eng11

All other sharing methods are working in the same way, so you can try them all out. :-)

4. Icons and their Meaning at a Glance:

I don’t need to explain much more, the app should be used intuitively. But here’s a digest of all icons and their meaning we’ve used in this app. If you have any question please feel free to contact us by mail with the address I’ve wrote on the top. We’ll try to help as soon as possible!

k-bild This box shows you the kind of stitch you’ve chosen as an abbreviation. Tap on it and a little window will open with a closer description of what kind of stitch it is. In this case you could read „knit stitch“ in it. At the end of this manual you can find a table with all symbols and their description. If you are missing one, please write an email to mail@@j-s-designs.de and we will add them asap.!
icon2 This switch allows you to change from symbol-writing mode to color painting. The blue side shows you what’s active at the moment. In this case you would write symbols. Tapping on the color palette you will change to coloring mode.
icon3 This box shows you which color is picked. Tap on this box and a new window will open. You can choose another color in it. If you are missing a color, please send us a note to mail@j-s-designs.de and we’ll add them.

Oh no, there a re too many rows or not enough stitches?? Don’t worry! Just tap on this icon and another window will open in which you can choose what to do next. Oh, please tap on the writing, not on the icon! 😉

This is the „Share“ button. Here you can share your charts together with its appropriate legend either

– Save it in your camera roll:

Here you can find the manual, but as you are just reading in it you obviously found it out by yourself. You are thinking along, I like that! 😉

This info button shows you trivia about Knitting iCharts. You can reach the support site from here and find an email link, too.
