1. Important Hints first:
We’ve added a specific amount of knitting symbols which are used most frequently. If you are missing symbols or have suggestions for improvements please send us an Email to email@example.com and we’ll add your missing symbols and deal with the improvements.
2. Short Instructions:
Most people are bored by first reading a manual before dealing with a new software. So I decided to write down only a short one, which shows you the first steps of making a new chart. You’ll find out the rest intuitively, I’m sure! What to do for creating a new chart:
- In this box you can see the abbreviation for the stitch you’ve chosen. While tapping on this box a detailed explanation appears.
- Tap on the yellow box for chosing another color (if you want to knit with different colors, f.e.). Tap on „Done“ afterwards.
3. How to continue:
You can share your chart in different ways. Share it on facebook, send it in an email or save it in your dropbox account or foto roll. The app will share not only the chart but also a legend with all of the symbols you have used. Here’s an example:
All other sharing methods are working in the same way, so you can try them all out.
4. Icons and their Meaning at a Glance:
I don’t need to explain much more, the app should be used intuitively. But here’s a digest of all icons and their meaning we’ve used in this app. If you have any question please feel free to contact us by mail with the address I’ve wrote on the top. We’ll try to help as soon as possible!
|This box shows you the kind of stitch you’ve chosen as an abbreviation. Tap on it and a little window will open with a closer description of what kind of stitch it is. In this case you could read „knit stitch“ in it. At the end of this manual you can find a table with all symbols and their description. If you are missing one, please write an email to mail@@j-s-designs.de and we will add them asap.!|
|This switch allows you to change from symbol-writing mode to color painting. The blue side shows you what’s active at the moment. In this case you would write symbols. Tapping on the color palette you will change to coloring mode.|
|This box shows you which color is picked. Tap on this box and a new window will open. You can choose another color in it. If you are missing a color, please send us a note to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll add them.|
|Oh no, there a re too many rows or not enough stitches?? Don’t worry! Just tap on this icon and another window will open in which you can choose what to do next. Oh, please tap on the writing, not on the icon! 😉|
|Add left column (stitch)||Delete left column|
|Add right column (stitch)||Delete right column|
|Add top row||Delete top row|
|Add bottom row||Delete bottom row|
This is the icon you’ll probably use the most. Tapping on it allows you to:
|This is the „Share“ button. Here you can share your charts together with its appropriate legend either

|Here you can find the manual, but as you are just reading in it you obviously found it out by yourself. You are thinking along, I like that! 😉|
